Caen Community Primary School

Children encounter and are taught the music curriculum from nursery - Y6. Singing, rhymes and song are all key to life in EYFS. Y1 upwards have a weekly music lesson as well as having a number of other musical experiences at Caen. These include a weekly singing assembly, peripatetic instrument teaching (guitar, ukelele, piano, singing and woodwind on request), lunchtime (choir, musical theatre and intrument/ 'ensemble') and after-school clubs (ukelele and more musical theatre). With our local Braunton Learning Co-operative Trust schools we run an infant music festival and both visit and are visited by musicians from Braunton Academy.

We have adopted the new DfE Model Music Curriculum.
