Learning about staying safe online is very important. At Caen Community Primary School we make sure our pupils are aware of some of the risks to safety that are online and what to do to stay safe. We have a set of SMART rules which the children are expected to follow at home and in school to make sure they stay safe online. These rules can be viewed above and should be followed when using all kinds of technology such as mobile phones, games consoles and home computers.
Below are some links to good websites with information for parents/ carers and children. Please click on the pictures they will open in a new tab/ window.

What to Do if You Identify an Online Safety Issue Outside of School
Your child’s safety online is very important to us. If you notice any online safety concern outside of school, please take the following steps:
1. Speak to Someone Immediately
- If your child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999.
- For non-emergency concerns, you can report the issue to:
- School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Email: safeguarding@caen.devon.sch.uk
Phone: 01271 812786
- School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
2. Report the Concern
- Provide as much detail as possible (screenshots, links, dates).
- Report the issue as soon as possible so we can act quickly.
3. Useful External Resources
- CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command) – https://www.ceop.police.uk/Safety-Centre/

- Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) – https://www.iwf.org.uk/

Why Inform the School?
Our DSL will review the concern and decide if it affects the wider school community. We can then take appropriate steps to keep all children safe.
